What are the issues with current teeth whitening products?

What is PAP?

PAP, which stands for Phthalimido-Peroxy-Caproic acid, is a new, non-invasive teeth whitening technology, which causes minimal damage to enamel health. Most common whitening methods are invasive and contain hydrogen-peroxide, which leaves teeth, as quoted in a scientific study, ‘irreversibly damaged by cutting enamel.’

 

Oxidation is a necessary process for whitening, as it neutralises organic double bonds that cause discolouration in teeth. PAP contains a high potential of oxidation which dissolves stains that have built up on enamel surface, behind the enamel and passes through to the dentine layer, neutralising even deeper stains. Does it really work?

Yes. The JAOS study showed 59% of all examined teeth saw an improved colour after one use, in just 24 hours. Whereas hydrogen peroxide-based treatments rely on multiple use for similar results.
